how to be happy - every day zen habits

Did you always wish to have a calm and happy life regardless whatever is going on in your life? What if I told you, you need these subtle habit shifts in your life to ensure permanent calm and happiness.

These are minimalist habits drawn from centuries of wisdom from Buddhist life style that will bring you lifetime of calm and happiness.

Morning Routine:

  1. Wake Up Time: Wake up 15 minutes earlier than usual and savor the quiet time. Before daily routing kicks-in, savor the time with yourself.
  2. Morning Fresh Air: Take a quick 10 minute stroll outside in fresh morning air, or spend some outdoor time taking fresh morning air in.
  3. Breakfast: Have fresh fruit and juice for breakfast instead of oily, sugary or salty processed breakfast.

Afternoon Routine:

  1. Post Lunch Walk: Take light walk after the lunch and help food digest properly.
  2. Late Afternoon Drowsiness: Have warm green and white tea instead of reaching for a salty snack or coffee.

Evening Routine:

  1. Eating Meal: Have meals sitting down. Savor the food instead of having meals on the go or in front of the TV/Gadgets.
  2. Spending Time with Nature: Take a light evening walk and care for a little garden. If you dont have much space, even maintaining small balcony garden is fine. If even that not possible, care for some indoor plants.
  3. Decluttering: Clear up little space every day before bedtime. This will help you declutter your mind and bring calm to daily routine.

Bed Time Routine:

  1. Winding down for bedtime: Put the electronic gadgets outside the bedroom and winddown with a quite hobby or a daily gratitude journal.
  2. Self Care: Treat yourself to reed diffuser, salt bath or a light massage.
  3. Prepping for good night sleep: Spend 5-10 minutes doing meditation or chanting to calm down mind for relaxed sleep.

Weekend Routine:

  1. Social Connections: Meet with a friend or family members or call them.
  2. Healing Time: Take long walk or hike in densely wooded area.
  3. Disconnect: Immerse yourself in a quiet hobby.
