At Home Summer Camp

At Home Summer camp Ideas

It is time of the year where kids are home and especially this year with quarantine situation, there are not many options available for on-site camps.

I see many virtual camps being offered, but I was looking camp that does not require screen time.

Given the circumstances I decided to create my own schedule of at home summer camps.

I used 5 criteria for these camps:

  1. Should not require screen time
  2. Kids should get camp like experience – with new topic every week
  3. There should be minimum prep for parents and yet each activity should be hands on and inspire kids to explore further
  4. Activities should be cost effective
  5. Every camp should involve some reading activity

This week was last week of virtual school and kids did not have much homework. So I decided to give it a try and it went really well.

Kids infact mentioned that they enjoyed my camps more than the camps they have attended in past. They even provided me more topics for additional camp weeks.

So for benefit of all, here is Part-1 of the 6 camp weeks. At the bottom of the page you will find link to the books I used for each camp.

In coming weeks I will provide detail information about each camp and the activities we are planning to do.

This camp plan best suits for kids aged 7 through 12. However you can use these ideas and adjust them to suit the age of your kids.

Here is the collection of books I used for these camps:

Geography Camp:

Science Camp (Electrical Circuits):

Photography Camp:

Scratch Games Camp:

Hope your kids will find this camp schedule interesting. I will see you next week with details information on 1st camp – Geography Camp.
